If you’re running late to work or maybe have a hectic morning schedule and have less time to make yourself a good breakfast, then a breakfast smoothie is the perfect thing for you!

Breakfast smoothies are easy to make and are not just health, but are also delicious and can sustain you and keep you energized until your next meal.

Here is one of my favourite breakfast smoothie recipes you could try out at home.

It requires just four ingredients:

Making this smoothie does not require many ingredients. Just four simple ingredients which are easily available in your pantry – rolled oats (or any other oats), bananas, chia seeds (which you could skip if you wish to) and milk (any milk of your choice).

It is very easy to prepare:

All you need is a blender! Yes, simply add in all your ingredients into the blend, blend until smooth and creamy and your smoothie is ready in minutes!

It is healthy:

All the ingredients in this recipe from rolled oats, to bananas, chia seeds to milk, are all very healthy ingredients that are nutrient-rich.

It can be made vegan:

This recipe is made with milk, which can be made vegan by using any plant-based milk as a substitute to cow milk in this recipe.

Main Ingredients in this Recipe

Rolled Oats

This recipe used rolled oats, as it is nutrient-rich and can help satiate one’s hunger and keep you energized for long hours. It can also help in weight loss, to lower one’s blood sugar levels and can also reduce the risk of heart issues. Oats are one of the healthiest grains available.


Bananas are also nutrient dense and can make you feel full in no time. It can also support better digestive health and could also improve blood sugar levels.

This recipe uses bananas as it is a nutrient-rich base to make your smoothie heavy and rich.

Chia Seeds

While adding this ingredient in your smoothie is totally optional, I would definitely recommend that you add it because chia seeds are a rich source of fibre and it could also help reduce one’s cholesterol levels, while promoting better digestive health.


I’ve used cow milk in this recipe, but the good part is that if you’re vegan, you can substitute the cow milk with any other plant-based milk of your choice.

Milk is rich in protein and can give you more energy and stamina to sustain you until your next meal.

Healthy Breakfast Smoothie

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 small banana
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
  • 1 cup milk (of choice)
  1. Take off the peel of the banana and chop it up into pieces and set it aside. Then, measure the milk, the oats and the chia seeds and keep the ingredients ready to blend.

  2. Into a blender, add in the milk, the oats, the chia seeds and the bananaand blend for a few minutes until the mixture is smooth and creamy without anylumps.

  3. The smoothie is ready to consume, as it is or you could also refrigerate it for half an hour or so, if you like it chilled.

Alternative Ingredients Substitutes

Rolled Oats: In case you do not have rolled oats, you could also use steel cut oats or quick oats and substitute it in the recipe in the same quantities.

Milk: If you wish to make the recipe vegan, you can substitute the cow milk in this recipe, with any other plant-based milk of your choice like soy milk, almond milk, oat milk, peanut milk, rice milk etc (in the same proportions).

Recipe Additions

Sweetener: This recipe doesn’t mention any sweetener, as it contains bananas which are already sweet. But if you do wish to have your smoothie sweeter, then you could add in some date syrup, maple syrup, date syrup or cane sugar as per your sweetness requirements.


  • This recipe can be made vegan by simply adding any plant-based milk of your choice.
  • In case you wish to have your smoothie chilled, you can simply use chilled milk while blending the smoothie, so no refrigeration will be required.
