It needs just 3 ingredients: Avocado, cocoa powder and maple syrup, that’s just three ingredients that you need to make this simple chocolate avocado mousse!

It is healthy: Mousse recipes contain dairy, eggs, sugar, heavy cream, whipping cream and other such heavy, rich and fattening ingredients. This recipe is light and healthy.

It is vegan: Most typical chocolate mousse recipes have a requirement of eggs and dairy products. Well, this recipe doesn’t require either, as its completely vegan and is made with avocado as its base ingredient.

Ingredients You Require for this 3 Ingredient Avocado Mousse


Avocadoes are rich in nutrients and are extremely healthy. They have heart-healthy fats, are rich in fibre, contain antioxidants, can help control blood sugar levels and can also promote better weight management. This fruit is rich in vitamins and minerals.

Cocoa Powder:

Cocoa powder contains high levels of antioxidants which can help the body. It is also rich in fiber and can satiate one’s hunger. Cocoa powder can help improve heart health, increase brain function and it can also elevate one’s mood!

Maple Syrup: In this recipe, maple syrup is used just as a sweetener, instead of sugar, because of its health benefits. Firstly, it is a natural sweetener and is rich in antioxidants. It also contains minerals like potassium, manganese and zinc, which is good for the body and one’s overall general health. It could also help improve blood sugar levels, boost immunity, reduce bodily inflammation, protect the body against harmful diseases and also improve gut health.

How do you make this recipe?

Make sure to have a good high speed blender, because this mousse uses avocado as its base ingredient which needs to be blended into a fine paste. Also, choose a large ripe avocado, as it is easier to blend.

Alternative Ingredient Suggestions

For maple syrup:

This recipe uses maple syrup as a sweetener. If you do not wish to use maple syrup, you can substitute it with any other sweetener like honey, date syrup, agave nectar, jaggery powder etc.

For almond flakes:

Almond flakes are used as a garnish in this recipe, as it also gives the mousse a lovely crunch in every spoonful.

You could substitute almond flakes with a few chopped mixed dry fruits, chopped mixed nuts or a mix of both.

3 Ingredient Avocado Mousse

  • 1 Large ripe avocado
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • Maple syrup to taste
  • Almond flakes for garnish
  1. Cut the avocado into half and scoop out the flesh from both sides. Chop it into a few pieces (to make it easier to blend).Then set it aside.

  2. Into a blender, add in the chopped avocado, the cocoa powder and some maple syrup (as per your taste requirements).

  3. Blend on high speed until it becomes smooth.

  4. Pour into two or three ramekins/bowls and garnish with a few almond flakes.
